story still going...

continued..... while still in the ER they had decsided you would most definatley need surgery and were hoping for that day, the hemotoma on your chest was still growing so it turned out you had to wait 2 days to have the surgery. the days until surgery were filled with meds and chaos on my part taking turns with my mom staying with you during the day so i could go home and get the kids things and my things for out for the places we were to be staying. finally on thursday he was stable enough to have surgery. oklahoma was on a severe weather advisory for that same evening. the surgery was supposed to take 2 hours. while waiting in the basement where the surgery was done, the tornado sirens started going off and according to the weather a tornado was heading to where we were, around this time nicks surgery should have been completed, the basement hall was flooded with people and pets and all you could imagine this ordeal went on for an hour and it was another hour, hour 4, that the dr came out and told us nick did great that the extra time was due to the bones burning out 3 drills. around midnight nick was back in the room. the next few days that followed were the most rough on nick because he had to endure so much pain and get used to operating on one foot and using a walker. nick was in the hospital for 19 days. finally after seven days in the surgery floor he was moved to rehab and had 12 days of continued therapy. nicks drs said he was not allowed to do stairs so we started staying with my parents once he was allowed home. EVEN MORE TO COME ...

The story of nick on april 16th it was just like any other chaotic morning in our home, nick myself and the kids were all up rushing to get everyone where they needed to go. i left with emma and brylee on the way to vickies at usual time. I knew nick had to travel aways away and i never liked that part of his job, but he loved it, our compromise was that he would call me when he saftly arrived and before he headed home, some reason as i was in the drive way, i just stopped and said and extra prayer for him that morning to keep him safe. 9:00 am i see on the caller id that my dad was calling from his cell phone MY DAD NEVER calls my work phone, i answered and he told me that a man called him and told him that nick was in a terrible accident in percell, he told us it looked like he had a blow out or somthing and asked my dad to call me, we had no other details, i grabbed my cell phone, purse and wrote the number that called my dad down and left, thankfully a good friend of mine drove me to the hospital, i was able to get ahold of the man who had stopped and told me it was a terrible wreck but that EMS was there and nick was conscience, he found out for me that they were heading to norman regional. we now had a destination to head too, we arried at the ER not long after nick had, they had immeadatley done a ct scan to check the large hemotoma on his chest and make sure he didnt have any head trama. once he was out of the ct they allowed us back and for him to get out of his neck brace, thats where they found at 5 in laceration on the under side of this neck, the dr. said it was so large and deep that had it been a 1/2 inch deeper that it would have cut a main artery! SCARY! after the ct we were advised that he had three broken ribs his lung was bruised as well as his heart. not to mention he had shattered his hip and femur and would need surgery. more to come
